Blue Ridge History

The Blue Ridge Rescue Squad has been a cornerstone of emergency services in northern Sussex County since its inception in 1956. Founded on the principles of volunteerism and community service, our organization has grown from a small group of dedicated individuals to the largest volunteer rescue squad in northern New Jersey. Serving the towns of Frankford, Branchville, Sandyston, Montague, and Walpack, we cover an extensive area of over 124 square miles, providing vital rescue and first aid services.

Over the decades, our squad has evolved to meet the changing needs of our community. From our early days of basic first aid response to our current capabilities that include advanced life support and emergency response, our commitment to excellence has never wavered. We have continuously invested in training, equipment, and community outreach to ensure we remain at the forefront of emergency services.
